Advanced Bionics Launches Employee Match Program with Hopes to Raise More Than $20,000 for CIAF

You Can Help CIAF Increase Awareness

Both Michelle Tjelmeland and her daughter Ellie were implanted with our AB Bionic Ear in 2001. In July 2006, both underwent bilateral CI surgery together on the same day and were just hooked up this past week.

"The impact that cochlear implant technology has had for my family cannot be conveyed in words," says Michelle. "Doors have been opened for Ellie and me, as well as for millions of other hearing impaired individuals in this world."

Michelle founded the non-profit Cochlear Implant Awareness Foundation (CIAF) to provide information, resources, support, and financial assistance for prospective cochlear implant recipients and their families. For more information about CIAF, visit www.ciafonline.org.

Advanced Bionics supports Michelle and CIAF's mission to increase awareness of the benefits of cochlear implants. From September 1, 2006 to December 1, 2006, Advanced Bionics will conduct this employee CI awareness fundraising campaign. Employees will have a chance to make a donation to CIAF. The goal is to raise $10,000 and a request will be submitted to the Advanced Bionics Research and Education Committee to consider a match dollar for dollar, for a total of $20,000.*

*Unfortunately, because of finite resources, the Research and Education Committee is not able to approve every request for auditory program support.
